About UsEstablished in Twickenham in 1952, Alberts Music Shop started selling mainly second hand instruments, especially accordions. Albert was a talented accordion player and also a skilled repairer, so the shop soon became very popular with local musicians. When new instruments became more readily available in post war Britain, Alberts started selling drum kits, electric guitars and amplifiers (skiffle, rock and roll and pop music had arrived!). Many budding young musicians purchased their first instruments from Alberts, some of whom would become very famous.
By now, Alberts son Eric had joined the company, and in the early seventies Albert decided to join a large instrument wholesalers leaving Eric in charge of the now known Alberts Music Shop. In the mid seventies Eric and his wife Pat had to move the shop to larger premises to accommodate more stock as the educational market was growing rapidly. Alberts was now selling recorders, violins and music books as well. Eventually, even this shop grew too small! So in 1984 Alberts was moved to even larger premises where it remains to this day.
In 1990 Stephen (youngest of Eric and Pats sons) joined Alberts and is now our Managing Director.
Today Alberts is well known for selling all sorts of instruments, accessories and music books in Twickenham and the surrounding area. Eric and Pat are now able to take a more leisurely role in the business.
Sadly Albert passed away in 1993, knowing that Alberts Music Shop Ltd was still going and now in its third generation. |
